Zion PTL Mission
The purpose of the PTL is to provide programs and support for Zion Lutheran Church and School, its staff, faculty, and families. Programs are held monthly and all families, staff, and faculty are invited and encouraged to attend! The PTL shall also provide support to the Zion Body by utilizing and allocating funds raised to support areas of need within the stipulations set forth by the PTL Board, and through the use of programs that are presented.
The PTL is open to all families attending Zion Lutheran School. WE would love to see new faces and welcome anyone that would like to join us. If you are interested and would like more information please call either the current PTL President, Melinda Volkening 815-509-4386, or the current teacher representative, Melody Bailey 815-861-5146. We would love to talk to you and tell you about the activities we do and the fun we have!
Tentative PTL Programs for 2017-2018
The following will give you a very brief overview of the programs and activities the PTL will be doing this year at Zion. We welcome any help, suggestions, ideas, and/or comments that you may have for us.
Friday, August 18: Ice Cream for All
All Zion students will be given an Ice Cream treat after school.
September 19 – October 3: Pie Sales
This is a huge fundraiser for us! The pies are available for Thanksgiving. Look for information coming home with your child. The Pie Sales Committee will help sort and distribute the pies on November 3.
September: Middle School Bowling
The 7th – 8th graders at Zion School are invited to a night of fun and fellowship at Glo-Bowl.
October 20: Fall Festival
Zion students can play carnival games, including the favorite cake walk. Concessions available beginning a half hour before the festival starts. PTL provides each student with 5 free tickets to get them started. We need several volunteers for this extremely fun evening. Please consider signing up to help – you won’t be sorry!
November 3: Pie Distribution
Sort and distribute the pies sold at the fundraiser.
November 16: Family Reading Night
February 14: Servant Appreciation Day
February 14: Valentine’s Day
PTL will provide each Zion student with a treat.
February: Girls Basketball Tournament
March 5-9: Panther Pride Week
This is a very fun week for the students at Zion to celebrate being a “Zion Panther”. There will be a special activity every day. PTL will need volunteers to pop popcorn on Tuesday, March 6 for the students to enjoy during the teacher/student volleyball game. On Wednesday, we need several volunteers to help set the incredibly fun games up for the students in the “Minute to Win It” competition. Thursday is “The Night at The Museum” and it would be great to have a couple volunteers help plate cookies and get refreshments ready for everyone to enjoy!
May 23: Kindergarten Graduation
May 24: 8th Grade Graduation
PTL provides cake, sets up food, provides and helps pin on flowers for the graduates, and hires a videographer to tape the ceremony for a keepsake.
May 25: End of The Year School Picnic
All students and families are invited to enjoy a picnic after dismissal on the last day of school. We ask you bring lunch of choice, or just come and play/socialize. The Zion students will each be given one free Kona Ice from PTL.
