Principals' Update

Dear Zion Parent(s):

We pray that you and your family are healthy and safe during these unique times. We are hopeful for all concerned that the weather will quickly improve to more springlike conditions. This too will pass but it is critical that everyone looks out for each other and complies with our Governor's request to "Stay in Place". The sooner everyone does, the sooner the spread of COVID-19 will slow down and eventually stop.

This week is our scheduled spring break,therefore, students will not have any school work but we encourage them to be reading and keeping their mind active. Next week is our scheduled return to school but due to Governor Pritzker's "Stay in Place" order there will be no school until at least April 8th. As you may know, he has already cancelled Chicago Public Schools until April 21st.

Students can expect academic work from their teacher next week. Additionally, we will continue to offer FREE lunches for all students 18 years old and younger. Please take advantage of this opportunity to get your child a regular nutritious lunch at NO COST. We understand that these are stressful economic times due to the numerous shutdowns that have affected the employment of many.

To get a FREE lunch all you have to do is call our office at 815-568-5156 or email us at office@zionschool.net by 9:00 a.m. each day and tell us how many students you have who need a lunch and their names. Lunches will be available for pick-up between 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. If pick-up is difficult for you let us know and we will see if we can arrange delivery to you.

Attached is a document on "44 Ways to Reduce Cabin Fever" which may prove useful at this time.

You are in our thoughts and prayers.
God's Blessings.
