Worship at Zion
Everyone is always welcome to come and join us in worship at Zion. If you
are new, or unsure about our worship or church in any way, please speak up and ask for
direction. Any of our teachers or staff members will be glad to help you feel at home here!
Just walk up to them, introduce yourself if needed, ask anything you need to know, and be
ready to be helped out. Worship service times are: Saturday at 6:00 PM, Sundays at 8:00 AM
and 10:30 AM, and Monday at 6:30 PM. Sunday School classes are at 9:15 AM Sunday and Adult
Bible study is at 9:30 AM Sundays. We look forward to seeing you at worship!

chain, in the event of school closings due to weather or other emergency conditions.

conditions, Zion Lutheran is automatically closed as well. Media stations to listen to in the
event of bad weather include:
Radio:
WBBM 780 AM
WGN 720 AM
STAR 105.5 FM
WMCW 1600 AM
WROK 1440 AM
WZOK 97.5 FM
Television:
Chicago Channels: 2, 5, 7, 9 and 32 News

In addition, Zion Lutheran will attempt to contact as many of you as possible through
the emergency calling chain. If any parent honestly feels their child(ren) can not
be safely transported to school due to weather conditions when school has not been
called off, they are encouraged to let Mr. Steltenpohl know of the situation to
arrange for an excused absence from school.

Our split level school was built in 1959 and remodeled in 1997.
It has two entrances. One is on the south, Jackson Street and
the west entrance is on Page Street. Our school includes an
office, 9 lower grade classrooms, 4 upper level classrooms,
a science lab and a computer lab. The school library is
currently housed in the church which is connected to the school.
Our new Early Childhood wing was completed in 1999. It houses
our Preschool, Kindergarten, and First Grade classes. It is
connected to our main building through the gym.
Our school playground was restored in 2000 and has been an
enjoyable addition for all our school children.

The Marengo High School district provides bus
transportation for our students with the same
procedures and requirements as the public
school students. Generally, transportation is
available to those enrolled in Kindergarten
(one way) through grade eight who live more
than 1-1/2 miles from school.
Bus riders who wish to be dropped off at a
place other than their normal drop-off must
bring a signed note from their parent to the
office and have it signed by Mr. Steltenpohl.
